ABOUT ME

Coach Rashida Dean
Founder- Somali Navigator Institute

In today’s diverse classrooms, clinics, and community programs, cultural understanding is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity. That’s where Rashida Dean comes in.

As the founder of Somali Navigator Institute, Rashida brings over 25 years of professional experience and lived cultural wisdom to help educators and professionals build meaningful, respectful relationships with Somali students, families, clients, and employees.

Fluent in Somali, Arabic, and English, Rashida offers more than information—she offers perspective. Born in Somalia and educated in the United States since the age of 17, she has lived on both sides of the cultural experience. With a background in psychology and certification as a Family Life Coach, Rashida has spent two decades guiding schools, nonprofits, healthcare systems, and organizations through the often delicate and nuanced process of culturally aligned communication.

Her approach is warm, practical, and deeply respectful of both Somali traditions and Western systems. Through in-person workshops, monthly virtual cohorts, and an active online community of learners, Rashida provides real-world strategies for those seeking to engage Somali communities with clarity and confidence.

“You don’t have to be Somali to support Somali families. You just need someone who can guide you through the conversation—with insight, not judgment.” ~Rashida Dean

Whether she’s training teachers on family engagement, advising HR teams on cross-cultural communication, or helping schools avoid common cultural missteps, Rashida remains committed to one powerful mission:
Building bridges where there were once barriers.
